Relevant to my style, I like to challenge my clients to grow, be better, and learn something new with every encounter we have. Growth isn’t always the most pleasant to experience, but I can promise any growth I encourage will be for your benefit! I aspire to help every person I work with become his or her best self, and that starts with making a decision to dive into therapy. If I sound like a good fit for you, I look forward to our therapeutic journey together!

I was drawn to this profession because I’ve felt a calling on my life since childhood to help make the world a better place. I’ve come to love helping people repair themselves and their lives; getting to witness their metamorphoses makes it so meaningful.

LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE

I have a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Spanish from the University of Texas at Austin and a Master of Arts in Counseling from Houston Graduate School of Theology. I’m both a Licensed Professional Counselor Supervisor (#76358) and Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor (#13534), and I have completed Brainspotting, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Hypnosis training. These therapies can weaken the emotional distress associated with traumatic memories from the past, and research has suggested that they can help with phobias, PTSD, anxiety disorders, chronic pain, and eating disorders.

As an educator, I have taught counseling students at the University of Houston and Midwestern State University, and as a researcher I have been part of research teams investigating the topics of PTSD, smoking cessation, online bullying, Covid-19, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and the mental health of mental healthcare workers.

I have a varied work history as a therapist involving working at a Christian not-for-profit center, psychiatric hospitals, a residential substance abuse treatment facility, the Harris County Community Supervision and Corrections Department with offenders on probation, Montgomery County Jail, and a group psychologist practice. As a former college athlete, I also have experience working with clients on issues related to sports and sports performance. In summary, I have worked with persons struggling with many different issues, and as such, I have gained a wealth of experience treating a variety of issues. I look forward to helping all of my clients on their journeys towards healing and wholeness, and I hope that I can help you with yours!
