Houston Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist
A Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) is a mental health clinician, trained in psychotherapy and family systems. LMFTs broaden the traditional focus on the individual and take a holistic approach aimed at the overall, long-term health of individuals and their families.
With a master’s or doctoral degree and at least two years of clinical experience, LMFTs are qualified to diagnose and treat psychological and emotional disorders within the context of the couple and family units.
LMFTs’ presence in the mental health field has increased 50-fold since 1970 due to their brief, solution-focused care, family-centered focus, and proven efficacy.
