Therapy is about hope, especially at times when life circumstances take you on an unexpected or trying path. Maybe you have experienced loss, grief, disability or trauma. Maybe old wounds are resurfacing or replaying in your present life. Therapy offers you a choice to move through these difficult situations with dignity and support. Choosing to come to therapy takes courage, and I am here to foster that courage as you gain insight and develop new skills to navigate life.
With a warm, compassionate, and culturally sensitive approach, I aim to build a trusting relationship and safe space that invites you to open up. Fascinated by life stories, I make it my mission to discover the uniqueness of each person that enters my office. Our initial sessions will provide me with an understanding of who you are, what you value, and what you hope to achieve.
Therapy is not a “one size fits all” approach and not a repair shop for fixing what is broken. Instead, I will offer techniques and skills that meet you where you are in your process of change. Like the Japanese art of Kintsugi, therapy is about bringing together all the parts of you to build something stronger and more beautiful. As a collaborative partnership, we will work together to discover the best version of you.
Using Psychology principles, I help clients access their strength, courage, and resilience through Psychodynamic, Cognitive Behavioral, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapies. Through a client-centered lens, our work may include identifying solutions to your current struggles, helping you utilize the strengths and skills you already possess, clarifying and enacting your values, and targeting negative thoughts that bring you distress. With activities between sessions, like mindfulness, thought exercises, and journaling, you will connect your efforts in therapy to your real life and fill your resiliency toolbox.
