Houston Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselor

LCDC

Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors (LCDCs) are trained professionals that help people with substance use disorders better understand and cope with chemical dependencies and are integral in helping to minimize the treatment gap impacting underserved communities.

In Texas, LCDCs must earn at least a bachelor’s degree and are required to gain experience in direct client interaction through internship and supervised clinical hours.

LCDCs primarily treat clients through therapy, which includes building strategies for relapse prevention and addressing the underlying causes of chemical dependencies.
