I know that finding a therapist can be a daunting experience, so I am honored to be considered as a part of your mental health journey. Congratulations on taking your first step to wellness! Life’s difficulties can leave us so overwhelmed that we may lose sight of our own strengths at times. Together, we will work to uncover your inner resources, so you feel fully equipped to advocate for your well-being with confidence.

The most important part of therapy is the bond that emerges between the client and the counselor. Therefore, I aim to provide you with a safe environment where you feel valued and heard, empowering you to comfortably explore yourself and learn new ways to face hardship. I plan to be with you every step of the way, supporting your goals and progress as you achieve your personal best.

I have always wanted to become a therapist and working with couples, families, adolescents, and children is my passion. Improving communication and building healthy relationships is very rewarding for me and translates to happy and fulfilling lives. From a systemic perspective, we will explore the connections and relationship dynamics in your life to create more positive emotions and better decisions. For children, we typically target emotional stressors and behavioral issues related to anxiety, bullying, self-esteem, self-harm, depression, and trauma. Overall, I focus on the unique needs of each person and plan treatment to meet these goals, often utilizing CBT, Accelerated Resolution Therapy, Psychodynamic Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, and DBT.

LICENSE, EDUCATON, and EXPERIENCE

I am a bilingual Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#204262), providing therapy in English and Spanish across Texas. After receiving my Bachelor’s degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Queretaro, I worked in Psychology Departments at multiple school settings. With a desire to apply my skills to individual therapy, I earned a Master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Capella University and became trained in ART, a trauma informed therapeutic approach.

I have been married for 30 years and have two beautiful daughters. I was born and raised in Mexico and, as an immigrant myself, understand the challenges of adapting to a new culture.

What will my first therapy session be like?

After looking over your paperwork and informing you about confidentiality, you and your counselor will discuss your concerns, symptoms, personal history, and treatment goals. Your counselor will decide if they are the best clinician to meet your needs, and you will decide if your counselor is a comfortable fit.
