Challenging, confusing, or overwhelming life experiences can become barriers to you enjoying your life. Yet, life can also be full of hope, joy, and opportunities for change. Supporting children, adolescents, couples, and families to thrive in the toughest moments is both my passion and purpose. Seeing confidence grow, relationships strengthen, and resilience develop, is like no other profession. As a Counselor, I find it an honor to be able to help others heal, overcome obstacles, and have their “aha” moments.
Treatment is not a one-size fits all approach, so I utilize a holistic method, looking at the whole person’s emotional, cognitive, physical, relational, cultural, and spiritual aspects. I see the beauty in each human being and celebrate the uniqueness of every individual and family. To aid your transformation, we will incorporate your values, goals, and experiences into your therapy. Through evidence-based methods, like Trauma-focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Somatic Therapy, storytelling, and creative arts, we will work towards finding the solutions to your life’s challenges.
For children, I utilize directive and nondirective play therapy techniques, which provide children with a developmentally appropriate way to communicate experiences they may be unable to verbalize. Many children and adolescents have experienced traumatic events, leading to difficulty expressing emotions, poor social skills, or behavioral struggles at school or home. Tools exist that can help children build emotional regulation and problem-solving skills and achieve sustainable change.
Regardless of my client’s age, the therapeutic relationship we build is core the success of therapy. Focused on your overall well-being, I will create a space that is safe, creative, and engaging. Encouraging you with hope and empowerment, we will celebrate even the smallest of changes in your growth. Anyone who participates in therapy is courageous and can become the true hero of their own story.
LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE
Before becoming a Licensed Professional Counselor (# 86365), I received my Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from The University of Texas at Brownsville and my Master of Arts in Counseling from Crown College in St. Bonifacius, Minnesota. I developed a strong foundation in empirically supported practices and ethical clinical care, becoming an ADHD Certified Clinical Trauma Provider II and receiving formal training in Complex TF-CBT, DBT, EMDR, Play Therapy, Substance Abuse, and Somatic Trauma Healing. I have had the honor to support clients and their families in diverse settings and multicultural environments, including outpatient, intensive outpatient, partial hospitalization, inpatient residential, and refugee shelters.
It's hard to see your child suffering and feel powerless to help. Your child may struggle with anxiety, behavior, self-esteem, academics, or fitting in with peers. Maybe your child is recovering from a trauma, parental divorce, or death in the family. We have trained professionals here to help.
Types of Counseling

What will my first therapy session be like?
After looking over your paperwork and informing you about confidentiality, you and your counselor will discuss your concerns, symptoms, personal history, and treatment goals. Your counselor will decide if they are the best clinician to meet your needs, and you will decide if your counselor is a comfortable fit.
