Couples Counseling

Oftentimes, people feel alone in their mental health journey and may have a tough time managing things on their own.  If you are struggling day to day, finding it hard to thrive, or feel like you are just going through the motions, I can work with you to build new experiences that support long-term growth.  Change can be difficult, but therapy can be used as a resource to improve your well-being by learning effective coping strategies and shifting unhelpful thinking patterns. A trusted therapist can tap into your strengths and use specialized techniques to help you realize your full potential.

Because we all have unique experiences and values that shape who we are, I believe counseling should be tailored to work best for you. Practical and collaborative in my approach, I draw on evidence-based theories and interventions, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-centered Therapy, Solution-focused Therapy, Strength-based interventions, Motivational Interviewing, and Humanistic modalities.

My goal is to help people make positive changes. With your commitment and my education, training, and background, I am confident we can work together to improve your quality of life.

LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#91763) in Texas and have obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Colorado State University and a Master’s degree in Counseling from Wake Forest University. Additionally, I am a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC), a professional certification granted for meeting high national standards for the practice of counseling, demonstrating a mastery of counseling knowledge and skills.  My experience includes working with individuals, groups, couples, and families across diverse clinical settings, including private practice, academic medical centers, and clinical research programs.  I have specialized training in Advanced Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and have extensive experience providing therapy to Veterans, Service Members, and First Responders, offering a deep understanding of the unique challenges that come with these professions.

What will my first therapy session be like?

After looking over your paperwork and informing you about confidentiality, you and your counselor will discuss your concerns, symptoms, personal history, and treatment goals. Your counselor will decide if they are the best clinician to meet your needs, and you will decide if your counselor is a comfortable fit.
