Many of us struggle with issues to which we believe there are no solutions. It may seem that our problems are there at every turn, despite what we do, adding more and more weight for us to carry. We may feel so weighted down that we begin to give up on ourselves. You’re not destined to suffer, however, and have the ability, within yourself, to cope with your problems and lessen this burden. We all have the potential to learn, and counseling can help you to understand and optimize your potential.
I specialize in helping couples and individuals work through their struggles to live their best lives. It’s important for me to bring an outlook of objectivity to therapy and truly understand each individual’s thoughts and emotions. I use Gottman’s Couple’s Therapy to assist couples and use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Mindfulness, and Gestalt Therapy to help individuals.
LICENSE, EXPERIENCE & EDUCATION
I received my Bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in Creative Writing and a minor in Psychology from Texas A&M University. I went on to earn my Master’s degree in Education in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Lincoln Memorial University in Harrogate, Tennessee. I am now a Licensed Professional Counselor (#84987) with experience providing intake assessment and therapy in private practice and inpatient hospitalization settings.
How long does therapy take?
Some clients may feel relief or meet their therapeutic goals in just a few sessions, while other clients may require months or years to reach psychological wellness. Those with severe mental health disorders may benefit from lifelong therapy support. You and your counselor will regularly examine your goals and evaluate your improvement. Your counselor will help you decide when it's the right time to terminate treatment, but it's always your decision to end therapy at any time for any reason.
