Life brings many challenges, changes, and questions. It can bring joy and beauty, but can also be exhausting, confusing, surprising, and lonely. Wherever you are on your journey, I will meet you there and help you walk through it. Therapy is a helpful space where you can slow down, reflect, and think about how you want to respond to life. In sessions with me, you get to be fully, honestly, and unapologetically yourself. Just bring in all parts of who you are, and we can get to work discovering what matters to you, what you need, and who you want to become.
In my work with couples and families, I help them adjust to changes, work through conflicts, repair disconnection, and find ways to break patterns that may be keeping them stuck. The goal is to understand each other's perspectives and stay curious as we find new ways to communicate and connect.
Working with children and teens is also very close to my heart. I strive to create a comfortable environment for them to sort through feelings they may not fully understand. Making space for difficult emotions, I help adolescents develop words to express themselves and choose how they want to respond. They can be honest about what they're going through without feeling judged, dismissed, or rushed. Children feel safe to communicate in ways that make sense to them, and teens have a space to find their voice without needing to filter what they say.
LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE
I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (#205627), earning my Bachelor's of Science degree from Penn State University in Psychology and my Master's of Science degree in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. My clinical training consisted of work with adolescents, couples, and families in a community health setting focused on communication skills and behavioral interventions to improve emotional regulation and distress tolerance. After graduating, I provided individual, family, and child psychotherapy in a private practice group to treat anxiety, behavioral concerns, trauma-related experiences, family conflict, and developmental transitions.
How long does therapy take?
Some clients may feel relief or meet their therapeutic goals in just a few sessions, while other clients may require months or years to reach psychological wellness. Those with severe mental health disorders may benefit from lifelong therapy support. You and your counselor will regularly examine your goals and evaluate your improvement. Your counselor will help you decide when it's the right time to terminate treatment, but it's always your decision to end therapy at any time for any reason.
