I am passionate about helping individuals and families reach their unique, personal goals. I believe a client grows best when there is a positive therapeutic relationship built in a safe and non-judgmental atmosphere. Those who want to build interpersonal insight, increase self-awareness, and are willing to implement new skills will benefit most from therapy. The ability to visualize their desired outcome is an important part of the therapeutic journey for clients and is key in the redevelopment of their personal identity.I use a variety of approaches and methodologies to meet the needs of clients and the chosen approach is rooted in the client’s level of comfort. In working with individuals,
families, and groups, I have extensive experience using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Systems Therapy, Structural Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy to coach the client to their desired result.
LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE

I hold a Bachelor of Science in Education (Special Education) degree from the University of Arkansas (Fayetteville) and a Master of Arts in Marital and Family Therapy from the University of San Diego. As a Licensed Marriage Family Therapist (#201195), I began working in the counseling field in 2002. My professional experience includes over 14 years as a therapist in a non-profit counseling center, in hospitals as an emergency mental health evaluator, and in the private practice setting. I also have 12 years within the education system as a Special Education teacher and as an Admission, Review & Dismissal (ARD) facilitator.
How long does therapy take?
Some clients may feel relief or meet their therapeutic goals in just a few sessions, while other clients may require months or years to reach psychological wellness. Those with severe mental health disorders may benefit from lifelong therapy support. You and your counselor will regularly examine your goals and evaluate your improvement. Your counselor will help you decide when it's the right time to terminate treatment, but it's always your decision to end therapy at any time for any reason.
