Every experience in life shapes us, but those experiences do not have to define us or control our future. Starting therapy can feel intimidating, but it can also be empowering with the right level of guidance and support. I would love for the opportunity to connect with you and be an active facilitator in your journey.

As a therapist, it is important for me to provide a relaxed, judgement-free space where you can talk openly, feel understood, and explore what is getting in the way of living the life you want. With a warm, genuine, and practical counseling style, I avoid any sort of rigid structure to help clients feel comfortable being themselves. Some days may involve processing emotions, exploring patterns, or learning a practical coping skill. In some sessions, you may need to eat a snack, play with fidget toys, or even sit on the floor; that is all fully accepted and there may even be times I join in with you.

Therapy is a collaborative process built on trust, honesty, and respect. I won’t try to “fix” you, tell you what to do, or give you all of the answers. Through active self-discovery and self-acceptance, meaningful growth and healing can occur. I believe you are the expert in your life and will help you make sense of your experiences. Adapting therapy to the needs of the individual client, I blend evidence-based techniques from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Strengths-Based Therapy, and Trauma-Informed Care.

LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#92166) and certified school counselor and received both my Master of Education in School Counseling degree and Bachelor of Science in Psychology degree from Sam Houston State University. My background includes working with adolescents and adults in school, outpatient, and group treatment settings, including Intensive Outpatient Programs (IOP) and Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP). My experience in both education and mental health have led me to develop a deep appreciation for the many factors that impact emotional well-being and personal growth.

In my personal time, I enjoy reading, crafting, listening to music, and spending time with my family. These activities help me to stay grounded and connected to my values.

How long does therapy take?

Some clients may feel relief or meet their therapeutic goals in just a few sessions, while other clients may require months or years to reach psychological wellness. Those with severe mental health disorders may benefit from lifelong therapy support. You and your counselor will regularly examine your goals and evaluate your improvement. Your counselor will help you decide when it's the right time to terminate treatment, but it's always your decision to end therapy at any time for any reason.
