I believe every person carries within them the ability to heal, grow, and find meaning, no matter what difficulties they have faced. As a therapist, my role is to walk beside you, to listen without judgment, provide tools for growth, and create a safe space where you can show up as your most authentic self. I see counseling as a collaborative process: you bring your lived experiences, values, and hopes for the future, and I bring evidence-based strategies, deep compassion, and the ability to help you discover new ways of responding to life’s challenges. Together, we work toward creating lasting change.
I believe healing starts when people feel seen, accepted, and supported. Many of my clients come to therapy carrying heavy burdens such as trauma, anxiety, depression, or grief, while others are children and families navigating emotional regulation, behavioral struggles, or school challenges. Some of the children and adolescents I have worked with have faced early childhood trauma, struggled with anxiety, aggression and classroom disruption, or been involved in the juvenile justice system. What unites all of my clients is the need for safety, trust, and tools that help them move forward, and I am committed to providing that in every session.
When I think about change in counseling, I see it as a process of learning to approach life’s difficulties differently, building awareness of our thoughts and emotions, choosing responses that align with our values, and practicing small steps that move us toward a fuller, healthier life. Change often begins with acceptance of where we are now and a willingness to take action, even when it feels uncomfortable. Over time, those small moments of courage lead to greater resilience and a renewed sense of hope. With adults, I often incorporate concepts from Acceptance and Commitment Therapy such as mindfulness, values exploration, and learning to make space for difficult emotions rather than fighting against them. These tools can be powerful in helping clients live more fully and intentionally.
My therapeutic approach is integrative and trauma-informed. With children, I often use play therapy techniques, both non-directive and directive, because play allows them to communicate what they may struggle to put into words. Through play, children can process trauma, practice emotional regulation, and build problem-solving skills. With teens and adults, I draw from approaches like cognitive behavioral strategies, mindfulness-based interventions, and solution-focused tools. Across all ages, I emphasize strategies that help clients stay grounded in the present, notice unhelpful patterns, and move toward the life they want to create.
My style is warm, collaborative, and compassionate. I create space for clients to feel accepted while also encouraging growth. At times I may reflect back patterns or challenge clients to try something new, but always in a way that is supportive and aligned with their goals. My hope is that each person who walks into my office leaves feeling more equipped, more hopeful, and more connected to themselves and those around them.
LICENSE, EDUCATION, and EXPERIENCE
I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (#67678) in Texas and Florida. I hold a Master of Social Work from Florida State University and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology from Alabama State University. I have over a decade of experience in clinical work and leadership across schools, homes, private practice, and community programs. I have facilitated play therapy with children, supported teens and young adults through individual and family counseling, and provided trauma-focused care for children and adults. My career includes roles as Senior Program Manager and Clinical Supervisor, where I oversaw behavioral health teams across multiple states and provided direct counseling to students, including youth referred through the Department of Juvenile Justice. I have also worked as a substance abuse counselor and in-home counselor supporting families referred through child protective services.
Beyond my professional role, I am also a wife and mother, which grounds me in the importance of balance, compassion, and connection.
How long does therapy take?
Some clients may feel relief or meet their therapeutic goals in just a few sessions, while other clients may require months or years to reach psychological wellness. Those with severe mental health disorders may benefit from lifelong therapy support. You and your counselor will regularly examine your goals and evaluate your improvement. Your counselor will help you decide when it's the right time to terminate treatment, but it's always your decision to end therapy at any time for any reason.
